In the liver and muscle cells Potassium is needed to convert Sugar to Glycogen. Potassium, in addition to Sodium, is responsible for the normal water and electrolyte balance in our body.

Potassium is important for the stimulus transmission in muscles and nerve cells (Neurons) and contributes to the regulation of normal blood pressure and protein metabolism.

Increased requirements for Potassium occur through the intake of too much Sodium (cooking salt), hard labor, sweating, professional or recreational sports, or a more specifically increased loss of Potassium.
